Terms of Service
We strive to provide you with dependable and useful service. In doing so, we hope to earn your friendship and trust.
Use of Centroid Structural software
- Correctness and accuracy: We work hard to ensure accuracy and correctness of designs performed with Centroid. We do this by automated unit testing and comparisons with trusted examples. Where feasible, we provide transparency by displaying comprehensive design calculations. Despite our best intentions, errors or omissions may occur. We therefor offer no guarantee for the accuracy or correctness for any designs performed with Centroid. Please perform your own verification rather than blindly believing all Centroid design calculations.
- Availability of service: We strive to provide perfect availability of our service through our choice of web browser and cloud server technologies. Despite our best intentions, we provide no guarantees in this regard.
- Fair use: Our Commercial User Professional plan is a per user subscription. You may use Centroid on as many devices as you want and from any location. You may not share your subscription with another person; they should get their own. If you wish to share your subscription across your organisation, please subscribe to our Enterprise plan.
- Non-commercial use: Our Gratis plan is available free of charge for educational and non-commercial use. You may not use a Gratis subscription to perform commercial work. We will use analytics to confirm that the extent and volume of the work performed with Gratis subscriptions do not match typical patterns of commercial use.
- Support forum: All registered users have access to our support forum for peer-to-peer discussions. We hope to foster a community of users that will love to problem-solve together. Our professional support team will drop in as often as they can.
- Professional support: Subscribers to our Professional and Enterprise plans have access to our team of professional engineers for assistance. We extend the same privileges to pre-approved educators on the Gratis subscription. Our team will provide guidance on using Centroid but will leave the engineering decisions to you. Our target response time for support requests is one workday.
Billing and refund policy
- Subscription: You can use Centroid on a monthly subscription basis. We bill by calendar months; your initial month will be billed on a pro rata basis.
- Payment: We accept all major credit cards.
- Refunds: If you are not completely happy with our service and cancel within the first 30 days, we will refund your payment in full.
- Cancellation: You may cancel at any time. We will keep your subscription active until the end of the current month. In addition, we will also keep your files in cloud storage available for one month after cancellation (in case you want to resume your subscription) after which we will permanently delete them.
Privacy policy
This privacy policy applies to all products built and maintained by Centroid Structural Inc.
Our guiding principle is to collect only what we need. And we promise we never sell your data. Here's what that means in practice:
- Identity & access: When you sign up for a Centroid product through this website, we typically ask for identifying information such as your name, email address, and a company name. That's just so you can personalize your service, and we can send you invoices, updates, or other essential information. When you download our Android or iOS apps, or make an in-app purchase, then the respective Google and Apple privacy policies apply.
- We respect your privacy: We'll never sell your personal info to third parties, and we won't use your name or company in marketing statements without your permission either.
- Billing information: When you pay for a Centroid product on this website, we ask for your credit card and billing address. That's so we can charge you for service, calculate taxes due, and send you invoices. Your credit card is passed directly to our payment processor and doesn't ever go through our servers. We store a record of the payment transaction, including the last 4 digits of the credit card number and as-of billing address, for account history, invoicing, and billing support. We store your billing address to calculate any sales tax due, to detect fraudulent credit card transactions, and to print on your invoices.
- Geolocation data: We log all access to all accounts by full IP address so that we can always verify no unauthorized access has happened. We also log full IP addresses used to sign up a product account.
- Website interactions: When you browse our marketing pages or applications, your browser automatically shares certain information such as which operating system and browser version you are using. We track that information, along with the pages you are visiting, page load timing, and which website referred you for statistical purposes like conversion rates and to test new designs. We sometimes track specific link clicks to help inform some design decisions. These web analytics data are tied to your IP address and user account if applicable and you are signed into our Services. We blind all of these individual identifiers after 30 days.
- Cookies: We use persistent first-party cookies to store certain preferences, make it easier for you to use our applications, and support some analytics.
- Analytics: We collect anonymous usage data for our products, e.g. page clicks, feature use and error conditions. We do this to understand how our customers use our products and how our products perform, so that we can continuously improve our service offering.
- Mobile app permissions: Our philosophy is to ask for the bare minimum of permissions from you to give you a great app experience with maximum privacy. By default, we have access to the network to ensure the app can connect to and communicate with cloud services. It's impossible for our apps to try to use a sensitive OS feature without requesting access explicitly from you, so you'll always know exactly when and what we're requesting.
- Voluntary correspondence: When you write Centroid with a question or to ask for help, we keep that correspondence, including the email address, so that we have a history of past correspondences to reference if you reach out in the future. We also store any information you volunteer like surveys. Sometimes when we do customer interviews, we may ask for your permission to record the conversation for future reference or use. We only do so if you give your express consent.
- Information we do not collect: We don't collect any characteristics of protected classifications including age, race, gender, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, or physical and mental abilities or disabilities. You may provide these data voluntarily, such as if you include a pronoun preference in your email signature when writing into our technical support team. We also do not collect any biometric data.
We commit to resolve complaints about your privacy and our collection or use of your personal information. Please contact us at privacy@centroidstructural.com
